Recruitment Campaign with the Philadelphia Eagles & Jason Avant

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS SOUTHEASTERN PA ANNOUNCES RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGN & CONTEST WITH PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Jason Avant and the Eagles Help Recruit Male Mentors during National Mentoring Month via Social Media

January 2011 – PHILADELPHIA – As part of January’s National Mentoring Month, Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern PA (BBBS SEPA) and the Philadelphia Eagles are continuing their partnership to recruit more male volunteer mentors.

There are currently more than 1,000 children waiting to be matched with “Big Brother” or “Big Sister” mentors in Southeastern PA, and more than 700 of them are boys.  Men who complete an entry form—and attend a Volunteer Information Session in January or February—will have a chance to win a night of bowling with Eagles wide receiver Jason Avant.  (Current Big Brothers and Big Sisters can enter by encouraging male friends to attend an Information Session as well.)

Throughout January, Eagles and mentoring fans will get an exclusive look into Avant’s life with weekly video clips about the importance of mentoring.  Avant will share personal stories and talk about the role that mentors have played in his life. New clips will be posted each week in January on BBBS SEPA’s and the Eagles’ Facebook and Twitter pages.  Fans are encouraged to spread the word and learn more about becoming Big Brothers.

Men don’t need to make drastic changes in their lives in order to positively impact the life of a boy in their area.  Big Brothers hang out with mentees two to four times each month for at least one year.  Men will learn all they need to know about becoming mentors with Big Brothers Big Sisters at the Information Sessions, which will be hosted in BBBS SEPA offices throughout the region on.  Click here for dates and details.
